Solutions for Problems

Problems and Solutions for your Problems

In the everyday world of embroidery we are faced with many problems and situations that can really cause a huge headache.  I have had to encounter so many different situations in my 30 years that I cannot even remember all of them.  I will try to cover the most common ones in this section.

There are times when someone will come into the shop and ask to have a name removed.  This can be a very traumatic experience if you do not know how to handle it.  It really is a simple task, but it is far from simple if you do not know how to go about it.

In this section I will go over the tools that I use and the following situations:

  • Removing Embroidery!
  • Replacing Embroidery to cover the same area!
  • Stitches missing in a letter!
  • Covering up the dark background of a fabric so that it does not show thru the embroidery!
  • How to soften up a stiff cap front to embroider more easily!
  • Bobbin thread showing on top!
  • Bobbin Tension Problem!
  • Design that popped out of the hoop before it was finished!

These are not the only problems that you will face.  There will be many more, but these are some of the basic ones and with the knowledge of how to fix these problems it will make it easier to find a solution for others.

Dark Garment Background Color Showing thru the Embroidered Design

fabric_color_coverup.jpgIn the embroidery training video I show you how to solve a problem when the dark background color of a garment shows through the embroidered design.    The embroidery stabilitzer or backing that I used in this video was too soft and did not tear away clean and you will have better finished product if you use an embroidery stabilizer or backing that is stiffer and does tear away clean.

Removing Embroidery Stitching

removing_embroidery.jpgIn this embroidery training video, I show you how to remove embrodiery stitching using a Peggy's Stitch Eraser.  I have found this tool to be indespensable.  You must be careful that you do not cut holes in your fabric and by leaving your backing in place it can be totally avoided.  Sometimes you are faced with this situation and the garment has already had the backing removed and is trimmed.  You can still remove the stitching but you must be extremely careful when you are using the Stitch Eraser.

How to Repair Design that Popped out of the Hoop

repair_rehooping.jpgIn this embroidery training video I cover a situation that can easily occur if a garment has not been hooped tight enough or if it has been taken out of the hoop thinking that it was finished and in fact part of the design is missing.  This can occur when the bobbin runs out and the machine did not stop.  Almost any type of situation can be fixed.
