Special Embroidery Techniques

In this section you will find videos on some special embroidery techniques that are used beyond the basics. Some of the videos in this section will be found in other sections also, depending on what type of garment that I am using during the application of the special technique.

You will find special techniques such as:

  • Working with Difficult Fabrics
  • Creating Puff Embroidery on Caps
  • Creating Applique
  • Patches
  • Multiple Hoopings
  • Impossible to Hoop Applications
  • Using Clamping Systems
  • Team Name Organization

There will be many more vidoes added to the section as we develop new ones and as my students request information on subjects that require some extra help.  Please don't hesitate to ask for information that is not in any of the sections that you have viewed.  These videos have all been developed as a result of your need.

How to Prepare Applique Pieces

applique_fabric_prep.jpgIn this Embroidery training video I show you how to prepare fabric for creating appliques.  Often times you are requested to do an applique that you cannot purchase the fabric for that is already prepared.  Most applications for applique is done with lettering fabric that can be purchased from lettering supply houses such as Stahl's but sometimes we are required to work with fabric that has been brought into us.

The process that I show you is simple and does not require one of the  fabric cutters that are on the market.  This is especially helpful if you have  a small order or you need to prepare one piece as a sample for your customer before they OK the project.  Once the sample is OK'd then you can send the pattern that you have created to one of the lettering houses and they can cut all of your applique pieces if you have a large order to do.
